EFFECTIVENESS
IMPACTS 0N OUR USERS
Before the program began and after the program ends, we gave out questionnaires to our mentees to ask them what they feel about their prospects on academics and their future career paths, in order to measure whether or not this program was helpful to them. We also asked the mentors how they think of our program to see whether the experience helped them in any other way. This section summarizes the results from their answers.
MenTEEs

From the feedback we received after the activity, our secondary students reported with clearer expectations in University and direction for studies, in addition to their plans for future career path.

In terms of their expectations about universities and their studies, they found improvement in the following aspects:

-
Ability to compare the differences between universities in Hong Kong, especially to their preferred subjects
-
Understanding of the gap between secondary school and university learning styles
-
Understanding of university life
-
Appraisal on whether their preferred majors are suitable
-
Understanding on requirements or helpful skills to increase their chances in university
-
More accurate expectations on the contents and coursework involved in their preferred major

Psychologically, it is helpful for them in terms of:
-
Reduced anxiety while making choices related to their future academic path
-
Higher motivation while working towards their goals

They also reported better expectations towards their future career pathway by being able to:
-
List out their preferred jobs in a more assured manner
-
Have a deeper self-understanding of job interests and ability, which helps them to predict their future
MENTORS
We also received feedback from our mentors, who reported they find the sessions with mentees meaningful and self-fulfilling:
-
Feelings of satisfaction after devoted time and effort in mentees by sharing their own knowledge and experiences
-
They feel that they are "saving another student" by being informative
-
Developing genuine relationships with the mentees through heart-to-heart conversations
Which means, our mentors could experience positive psychological benefits, where they spent meaningful time and enhanced their experiences nurturing with students.
FURTHER FEEDBACK
Despite reports on the beneficial aspects, we observed some patterns to be brought to attention.

-
While a majority of mentees choose their major based on personal interest, some chooses their preferred occupation based on salary and company values
-
Some reported concerns on expectations of the future workplace, where they are not sure whether they will enjoy working
-
There is a demand on further life-planning and career guidance

Which provides insight on directions which our project could be enhanced on.
